Psychonauts 2, the critically-acclaimed follow up to 2005's Psychonauts, released on August 25th this year, and fans cannot get enough. Defying all odds, the sequel lived up to the massive expectations set by the original. Its tight controls, creative telepathic gameplay, and wholly unique level designs are something any player would be remiss to skip.
Double Fine "Working On A Fix" for Psychonauts 2 Micro-Stuttering on PC

However, there has been a pervasive issue for players on the game's PC port - frequent micro-stuttering during animations or when loading a new environment. Gamepass and Steam owners of the title have both reported this bug on Reddit and Steam's forums.
Outlets have reported that the game's engine, Unreal Engine 4, is the leading cause for this issue. When mixed with DX12, the engine causes slowdown due to textures loading in real-time instead of preloading, bringing even the highest-end PCs to their knees from time to time during gameplay.
We are aware of an issue affecting some PC Psychonauts 2 players wherein the game appears to hitch when new shader permutations are rendered for the first time.

This may affect players with various hardware specs. We are working on a fix and hope to implement it soon.
Double Fine is aware of the issue and is currently working on a fix. Whether it allows players to revert to the more stable DX11 or allow preloaded textures, we hope they can get it released sooner rather than later so PC users can fully enjoy the game.
